Volunteer New York! Sponsors MLK Day of Service

Volunteer New York! will host a community-wide day of service at the Afya Foundation in Yonkers on Saturday, January 15. There will be two shifts from 10:00 – 11:30 AM and   12:00 – 1:30 PM .

 

 

For the past 11 years, Volunteer New York! has hosted volunteer opportunities on the Saturday before MLK Day. Due to COVID-19 they will only be hosting this one in-person volunteer opportunity for MLK Day 2022.  Registration will open to the public January 5th, 2022, on their website at volunteernewyork.org/mlk

 

 

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service is a day intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”

 

 

MLK Day 2022 – Volunteer to Sort Much Needed Medical Supplies:

Volunteers are needed to help sort through donated consumable, personal care, surgical, and humanitarian supplies at the Afya Foundation in Yonkers. These sorted goods will be included in shipments to the Caribbean, Africa, and local health systems.

 

 

All volunteers must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated. Proof of vaccination must be shown prior to entering the sorting area. All volunteers must wear a mask during their volunteer shift. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old or 5 years old with an adult to participate in this event. All children 5 to 16 years old must be always with an adult and fill out a youth waiver.
