The JCC Mid-Westchester Welcomes Hundreds of Volunteers for 2025 MLK Day of Service

On Monday, January 20, the JCC Mid-Westchester, in partnership with UJA Federation, Hope Community Services, WJC, and Generations Church, hosted the 2025 MLK Day of Service Blizzard Box program. JCCMW welcomed over 300 adults, teens, and children who worked together to assemble full, non-perishable meals (blizzard boxes) to combat food injustice in Westchester County in solidarity with all marginalized communities. The volunteers designed personalized notes and decorated the boxes with messages of kindness. Participants also explored the Jewish community’s connection to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his teachings.

Between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the volunteers worked to pack over 400 meals that were then delivered to HOPE Community Services to support our food-insecure neighbors.

JCCMW provides teens, adults, and families with numerous volunteer opportunities and community service projects that meet the needs of our neighbors, build community connections, and provide professional skill-building opportunities. Through community service and volunteer programs, we can make a difference in the lives of others and live the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world).
