Israeli-American Filmmaker Chen Drachman Screens Star-Studded Short At Yonkers Yofi Fest

Award-winning Israeli-American filmmaker and actress Chen Drachman screened her latest short film, But I’m a Shoe, at Yofi Fest—the Yonkers Film Festival—as part of Comedy Block 2 at the Riverfront Atrium Theater. This screening highlights Drachman’s growing presence as a Jewish filmmaker in the industry.

But I’m a Shoe stars Janet Varney (You’re the Worst, The Legend of Korra, Platonic), Housso Semon (Suffs), and Alexander Ferguson (Hamilton). Drachman met Semon and Ferguson while studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), marking the start of their artistic collaboration. Their paths have flourished professionally in New York, leading to this inventive project combining animation and live action.

Ferguson shared, “I’ve always been a fan of animation, so getting to be part of a project like this was a no-brainer, and it’s always a blast working with friends from school on their crazy, creative ideas.“ Semon added, “From the moment we met in school, I was struck by Chen’s unique sense of humor. She has always been incredibly talented and creative, but the blend of animation and live action in this film makes it a truly special project that I was eager to be a part of.“

Drachman commented, “I’ve been hearing about how amazing YoFi is for a while, and it was very evident from the get go, when they worked hard to get filmmakers to meet each other even before the festival. What a wonderful community. I can’t wait to share our weird little tale in Yonkers! I also appreciate the very easy commute!”
